Vocal Music has been a passion of Christen’s since she was a child and she has many years’ experience singing in a variety of settings. At the University of Connecticut, Christen sang in the UCONN Concert Choir, Collegium Musicum, the Opera Chorus for The Magic Flute, and performed a Senior Recital in the spring of her senior year. In addition, in 2009, she performed the National Anthem at Gampel Pavilion for one of the graduation ceremonies. Christen also performed with the Vernon Chorale, both in the choir and as a soloist in 2009-2010, and was thrilled to join them again in 2018. She has taught private voice and piano lessons to a variety of students over the years and is excited to expand her studio with a renewed focus on private teaching.
Christen has been heavily involved with worship ministries since she was a child, singing as a soloist, on worship teams, and in the choir at the churches she has attended over the years. She directed the choir for three seasons at Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church (2011-2014). In the Summer of 2011, Christen worked as the Music Director at Camp Spofford in Spofford, New Hampshire, where she planned and prepared worship music for chapel services and coordinated a concert performance each Saturday evening. She continues to serve in worship ministries at Crossroads Community Church in Vernon, CT, where she currently attends. Christen believes that music is a gift, and is always looking for ways to learn, grow, teach, and share her gift with others.
